Ferris State University While being active and pursuing my degree at Ferris, I would volunteer and work different events here and there to build my network. The events listed are some I would remember for both the good and the bad, all a lesson learned and new skills developed. I am forever grateful for the mentors I had met along the way and those who still support me no matter what state I land in. These skills are used in new ways everyday and I hope to continue to work hard and make them proud of where I am.

Boyne Highlands This was my first internship in the Hospitality program at Ferris State! Located in Harbor Springs, MI a small town just under the Mighty Mac, it is a key spot for tourists, golfers especially. My role was an Events Coordinator/Intern. I learned the behind the scenes of handling guests concerns, working at the country club, and how to deal with a groom who changes his mind prior to walking down the aisle. The connections I've made while working here are ones I will never forget!

Grand Lake Lodge is a historic lodge overlooking the small town of Grand Lake, sitting at 8969 ft. high in the Rocky Mountain National Park this place became home in the midst of the pandemic. Moving away from home had been a challenge, I was 1,298 miles from home without any idea of what I would do had something gone wrong but luckily it was one of the best decisions I had ever made. I started as a host and events intern, moving my way to restaurant supervisor the following season and every other department between the two seasons there. I became more independent than ever and more knowledgeable than ever. Grand Lake Lodge

Flying Flags A campground and resort all in one, this classy area is located in Buellton, CA. With many tourist attractions and high profile guests, this place was constantly moving. Many great times here leaning about different guests and systems we would use. Definitely no place like this place! I had the role of Events Admin, I would bartend weddings, set up for retreats, write the welcome letters for our groups and so on. Learning to communicate with others has always been a skill anyone can improive and this helped me sharpen mine.

Devil's Thumb Resort This one challenged me. I work well in high traffic areas, however not when the individual in charge is belittling everyone that works for him. I was a foodrunner, server, host, and busser within this job. Not that I believe anything is below me at all but the difficult situations I encountered helped me understand the approach to upper management that should be taken in order to resolve these complicated situations.
