Welcome back!

I'm glad to see you've decided to continue reading, I'm excited to show you this new trail, I noticed it my first year at Ferris! This trail is pretty clean because of the experiences of giving back.

So to begin, I stated earlier how I enrolled into Ferris as an honors student and part of the commitment to being an honors student is community service and logging said hours in order to hold that status. After a year or so I dropped honors status by choice in order to focus on myself and continue my education the way I wanted to. The commitment to the community has not slowed down however, it picked up!

Ever since I was a little girl I had been giving back whether it was serving in the womens and children shelters, Jesus Saves soup kitchen, to the children rooms at church. Once I hit high school I started working on a project known as SEND; Students Empowering Nigerian Development. Through this, I was part of a committee where we raised over $5,000 through fundraising for students in Nigeria to attend a school. Which is more rewarding than imaginable. This past year at Ferris I have received recognition for hitting the 125 initiative with an astounding 136 hours which had been my goal for the past year. I have also raised over $100 for Relay for Life, and was recognized for most involved in community service through AMA with various food drives, campus cleanups, Adopt-a-highways, and other various events on campus.

I am looking forward to continuing this with numerous events this coming year as well as looking for opportunities after graduation to give back.

See you on the next hike!

Maddy
